Volunteering
Our volunteers are the heart of Sumac Community Food Centre. Join our team to learn new skills, meet great people, and make a real impact in the community.
Most of our volunteer opportunities take place during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). We offer a variety of roles, including:
- Server Volunteers – Greet program participants, help with meal and program service, and create a welcoming environment.
- Kitchen Volunteers – Assist with meal preparation and general kitchen tasks alongside our staff.
- Dishwasher Volunteers – Help keep our kitchen running smoothly by washing dishes, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Mind Your Food Volunteers – Support our after-school cooking and community-building program for youth (ages 12–17) by assisting participants as they develop cooking skills and confidence.
- FoodFit Volunteers – Support older adults in our hands-on cooking program by assisting with food preparation, encouraging participation, and helping create an inclusive learning environment.
Contact [email protected] or call (647) 576-7042 for more information about becoming a volunteer.
